How to clean your air fryer

Look after your air fryer regularly and it’ll stay in top shape, turning out crispy treats for years to come. So grab a sponge and let’s get your air fryer sparkling again!
How often should I clean my air fryer?
How often you clean your air fryer depends on how much you use it. If you use it regularly, give the basket and the inside a quick clean after every use so grease and food residue don’t build up. The heating element only needs a clean every few weeks. It might sound like a chore, but don’t worry – it’s quick and easy!

How do I remove burnt-on food from my air fryer?
It happens to all of us: we leave a crispy bit in the air fryer a little too long and it burns. Even with a non-stick coating, stubborn grime and burnt-on bits can build up over time. But don’t panic – we’ve got some handy fixes using things you’ve probably already got at home!
- Soak the basket
Pop the basket in warm soapy water and leave it to soak for a few minutes. This loosens burnt-on food and makes cleaning much easier.
Don’t use harsh cleaning products or sharp objects – they can damage the coating.
- Vinegar and water
A mix of white vinegar and water can help shift stubborn grime. Leave it for a few minutes, then wipe it away.
- Bicarbonate of soda paste
Bicarb is a real secret weapon against stubborn stains. Mix a little with water to make a paste and spread it over the burnt-on areas. Leave it for a few minutes, then wipe over with a sponge or soft brush.
- Lemon for smells
Half a lemon can help get rid of unpleasant smells. Gently rub the affected areas with the cut side, then rinse thoroughly.
Our tip: Avoid harsh cleaning products and abrasive scourers so you don’t damage the non-stick coating. Instead, clean the basket or crisper plate with hot water, washing-up liquid and a soft sponge.
Always check the manufacturer’s cleaning instructions for your air fryer model.
